To me, i think this politicians are just seeking for power to enrich their families and themselves, nobody is going there for the seek of better Ghana. I take it to be a fantasy that no single human being can afford Ghana free and quality education.

If we stabilise our economy,utilise efficiently and effectively our Oil&Gas resources earnings free healthcare,universal free education and all will be affordable and thus create the Welfare state status Ghana the dream will be achieved through sacrifice.

CAPITALLY NO.TAKING THINGS INTO CONSIDERATION THE SCHOOL CAPITATION GRANTS THEY CAN'T PAY, THE STUDENTS WHO ARE SO BRILLIANT AND INTELLIGENT AND BY THEIR HARD WORK GAIN A SCHOLARSHIP THEY DON'T EVEN PAY. EVEN THOUGH WE ARE NOT IN FREE EDUCATION SYSTEM PARENT AND GUARDIAN DO PAY FEES YET THE SCHOOL AUTHORITIES ARE NOT MANAGING IT. THE QUESTION IS CAN THE GOVT AFFORD PAYING ALL SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS FEES. LET DO SOME CALCULATION. LET TAKE IT FOR INSTANCE THAT SCHOOL FEES IS GH100.00 MULTIPLY BY NUMBER OF SHS STUDENTS NATIONWIDE . THE ANSWER IS GHANA WILL BE AT A LOSS. BESIDE THE POLITICIAN ARE JUST DECEIVING US. PLS VOTE WISELY.

philosophy have made us understood that nothing is impossible,so is the word of God. But i also strongly think that, records best describes a situation despite the fact that, change is reliable,Let us ask ourselves the percentage of change notion as against the overall percentage of facts and philosophies, There is a great chunk of difference which must also be entertained,

The fact is dat we as ghanaians,ar lurking very simple understanding,w've given our mind set 2 the 2 party system and dats wat we get as a result of it.The other parties av a lot 2 offer y always NDC/NPP.The others av revolutionary ideas bt we dont wan it den we stand 2 suffer @ our peril.They now even kalin 4 war.God av mercy

With the right policy and managing our resources anything and everything is possible,is for us to maintain and keep our focus.

Free education maybe the answer but definitely not this time if they should win this election. our problems will worsen much more than what we would expect.

I were thinking maybe Ghana can  have  some "Reuters " experience teachers to go the college and ask graduating students  and other  qualified students to do some volunteer work in Ghanaian schools, something like internship. Most Ghanaian I meet here in the US very proud of country just not enough pay to support families. I did read a article some time back about housing being built for teachers ? that is good insensitive in employing qualified teachers. ....Small Grants Research Programme in Agriculture, Africa 2012

The Future Agriculture Consortium, through its Young People and Agri-Food theme, seeks to address three constraints to more appropriate policy in relation to the “young people and agriculture” problem in Africa:

  • A lack of analysis that is theoretically and historically informed, conceptually sound and context sensitive;
  • A very weak base of empirical research relating to either the nature of the “problem” or the potential impacts of particular policy responses;
  • A limited cadre of researchers and policy advocates who are actively working on and informed about these issues.

Since its inception in 2010, the theme has worked to understand the framings and narratives that inform policy relating to young people and agriculture and to begin to reframe the “problem” in a way that will allow research to more effectively contribute to evidence-based policy processes.

A series of country-based research undertaken last year fed into a recent international conferenceYoung People, Farming & Food: the Future of the Agri-food Secto... held between 19-21 March, 2012 at the University of Ghana. A brief synthesis of the research agenda that emerged from the conference was also published.

In order to push this agenda forward the FAC Young People and Agri-Food Theme is launching a small grants programme. Grants of up to UK£2,000 will be made available on a competitive basis to applicants who are in a position to make a serious contribution to the post-conference research agenda.

Grants of this size are not sufficient to initiate and complete new work, so we are looking to identify and fund “value-added” activities such as: an additional field visit; additional data analysis; a specific writing project; attendance at a conference; or organising a conference panel.

This small grants programme is open to bona fide researchers at all levels. It is expected that most awards will be given to African researchers; however others are also encouraged to apply.

Short proposals (1000 words maximum) should be submitted by email to j.leavy@ids.ac.uk by 15 June 2012, together with a one-page CV that includes the name of one referee. Proposals should clearly identify the work that is being proposed, how it engages with the FAC post-conference agenda, the expected outputs and schedule, and how the funds will be used. We are very keen to see publishable work being generated through this programme. Ideally projects should be completed by31 December 2012.

Successful applicants will be notified in July 2012.
